Begin a "What if" journal
There are many types of journals. This one delves into possibilities. We look at life through a positive lens. We go beyond the circumstances of the present and look toward a better option.
This can provide hope, motivation, and encouragement. I did for me when I was faced with circumstances I could not change. For those of us who see the struggles and frustrations of a difficult life, we can dream. We can dream of a life beyond the present. This can be both motivating and frustrating. Let this be a motivator rather than a frustrater. Consider this as a way to look at your life outside the box or from a different perspective.
Maybe your “what if” is a change in attitude that someone has with you. Maybe it is the way you are treated by a boss, spouse, child, or friend. Maybe it is a new job or a hobby you want to try. Maybe it is financial freedom. Maybe it is a way out of a difficult situation. Let your creativity expand.
Would doing a “what if” change your perspective? Would it give you hope? Would it be a motivator? Would it encourage grace or understanding?
Take the first problem or circumstance that comes to mind. Now change it. “What if _______ treated me with respect.” “What if I had ___________.” “What if I had better health.” Transform it to the way you hope it would be. In your writing, as you transform your circumstances give details to your dream. Write what you would change. Write how you would like to change it. Write out the benefits of the change. Put your hopes down in writing. Create a new scenario. Consider the ways you might be able to make choices to move forward towards that new vision. Say or write a prayer seeking the change. Ask for the things you may need to accomplish the new goal or circumstances. You may need courage, will power, self-control, grace or help from the Holy Spirit. Would you be open to God motivating you to be part of the transformation?
