7 Ways to Boost Your Prayers

Updated: Oct 16, 2023

7 ways I have used to improve my prayer walk with God.

Prayer is more than a help line. For me, prayer has become a relationship with God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). It is a way for me to connect and receive guidance. He is my comfort, protector, guide and so much more. The following are the changes that helped me deepen my relationship with God.

1. Teach me – I asked the Holy Spirit to teach me how to pray. Who better than the Holy Spirit who is our Spiritual Teacher sent by God to guide us. The Holy Spirit knows God like no other. So, I went to the best to ask for guidance.

2. Ears to hear – I prayed for ears to hear the voice of God. I wanted to hear the still small voice that speaks to the heart of each of us. I want to be able to hear God above the noise of this world.

3. Eyes to see – I prayed for eyes to see God in all things around me. I wanted to see God working in my life. I wanted to see God in nature, cities, lives, people and things around me.

4. My Best Friend – I began talking to God in all kinds of ways. I would tell Him everything that ran through my head. Sharing what was good, what frustrated me, things that hurt, things I wanted, shared my heart and so much more. I talk to Him like a friend that is there every moment of the day.

5. Open Heart – I opened my heart to God. I opened my emotions, thoughts, faith and all that I am to let God in. I chose to be real and real honest. He know how I was feeling anyways, there was no point in being proper or fake.

6. Undivided Attention – We want undivided attention from the ones we love, so I chose to set myself apart when I wanted to spend time in prayer. I found a safe place to be open and fully present in the moment. I wanted to be one with God and that requires my full attention.

7. Listen – Waiting and listening can be one of the hardest things for me. I try to listen for response or even conversations I am not expecting. That still small voice that has something to say when I’m busy being emotional or off-track.

These are a few of the things that improved both my prayer life and my relationship with God.
